Children And Technology

The excessive use of computer are believed to be an important environmental factor contributing to the fact that children are overweight and obese. One of the disadvantage of games is that some games are too violent in nature, which has negative effect on young minds. Apart from this, spending lot of time just sitting on a cough or bed makes a child less active, which brings up the issue of a childhood obesity. now i am not saying that video games are bad or the use of computer is bad, I am saying that too much video games and spending long periods of hours in front of a computer is bad.
The computer -- like the TV -- can be a babysitter. But many children, overwhelmed by the volume of data and flashy special effects of the World Wide Web and much software, have trouble focusing on any one task. "A new study from the American Association of University Women casts doubt on the claim that computers automatically motivate learning. Many girls, it found, are bored by computers. And many boys seem more interested in violent video games than educational software"
Too often, what computers actually connect children to are trivial games, inappropriate adult material, and aggressive advertising. They can also isolate children, emotionally and physically, from direct experience of the natural world. Children at risk, need most -- close relationships with caring adults. In the early grades, children need live lessons that engage their hands, hearts, bodies, and minds. Giving children's increasing use of computers, somtimes for prolonged periods, it is likely that children will beging to experience the same kind of injuries frequently reported by adult computer users. This injuries are associated with a form of tendinitis, called Nintendinitis, and also eyestraing injury.

Eyestrain Injury

Computer vision syndrone is a term that describes vission related symtoms caused by prolonged computer use. Computers are reshaping children's lives, at home and at school, in profound and unexpected ways. Common sense suggests that we consider the potential harm, as well as the promised benefits, of this change. Staring of a computers monitor can lead to serious health hazards to children. The risks include repetitive eyestrain Injury. this injury occurs when a person over used the muscle, any muscle held in one positionfor too long will strain. So when a child is staring at the monitor for long periods of hours, the inner muscle tighten up causing the eyes to get irritated, and dry.
